The building itself was constructed in 1924 when it served as the administrative centre for the northern part of the country. Today, the building has been modernised with a multi-media facility where you can learn more about Thailand’s heritage in an interactive setup.

Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by Thai people in traditional dress who will usher you in to watch a quick film about the history of Chiang Mai. After the film, you can tour the museum at your leisure as you learn more about the region’s history, the royal family, war with the Burmese as well as exhibitions on Buddhism and cultural beliefs.

Visitors will also gain insight into agricultural practices of Thai people and the hill tribes. You will be able to view photographs, models and video footage with signage in both Thai and English. Some exhibitions also outline plants for Chiang Mai’s future.

Make sure to stop by during your visit to Chiang Mai, as nowhere else will you receive such a comprehensive look into the past, and the future.
