Rai Mae Fah Luang

Rai Mae Fah Luang is one of the must-visit art galleries and gardens in Chiang Rai. This blended park is also home to Buddhist temples and collected antiques.

The most notable attraction at the arts and cultural park is the museum that is home to the largest exhibit of artefacts from the Lanna cultural system.

Rai Mae Fah Luang Art Gallery, Cultural Park & Garden, Chiang Rai

Make sure to spend some time browsing through the exhibitions on display, as you will learn a lot about the Lanna Kingdom and Thai culture. Another favourite attraction at Rai Mae Fah Luang is the Haw Kham. This tower resembles the structure of Thailand’s wats and was constructed from the remains of derelict wooden homes. The sheer size of the tower has evident influences of Lanna art.

The cultural park is set on a beautifully manicured garden, providing the perfect environment for a serene getaway. At one part of the garden, you will spot the Haw Kham Noi, home to some of the most stunning Buddhist murals in Chiang Rai. These beautiful works of art are believed to have been obtained from a neglected teak temple in Phrae.

The whole gallery and gardens will require between 2-3 hours to enjoy and you can get her via private car or songthaew from Chiang Rai. It is located just 6kms from town, and a songthaew should cost between 40-60 THB per person.

With so much to see at Rai Mae Fah Luang, make sure you put aside some time to tour this beautiful part of Thailand.
