It was originally built for the Southeast Asian Games back in the mid-1990s, and its name comes from the 700th anniversary of this well-loved destination in Thailand. The sports complex holds numerous exciting events including drag racing and ice skating – to name a few.

The list of facilities here is nothing short of impressive. There are three indoor stadiums, one massive outdoor stadium, a handful of fields complete with field gear, a velodrome, and so much open grassy areas for all kinds of outdoor sports. It also features an Olympic sized swimming pool, a high dive pool, basketball courts, tennis courts, a fitness gym, golf practice area, badminton courts, a shooting range, aerobic dance facilities, volleyball courts, a running track, and a football field. The main stadium also has a covered area which can accommodate as much as 4,500 spectators.

The 700 Year Stadium Chiang Mai also has well-maintained showers, toilets, changing rooms, and lockers for all your needs. Just behind the complex is a big reservoir which serves as the trailhead for a wide network of hiking and mountain biking trails. Many of the trails can connect hikers and bikers to other trails that encircle the Huay Tueng Thao Reservoir Park, around 3km to the north.
