Editorial Policy

Chiang Mai Travel Hub is an independently researched travel and visitor information website founded in 2016 and managed by Michael Jones.

Our editorial purpose is to help visitors discover Chiang Mai and northern Thailand through practical information about attractions, temples, markets, festivals, accommodation, activities and local destinations.

This policy explains how we research, prepare, maintain, and correct our content.

Editorial Responsibility

Michael Jones is responsible for the website’s research, editorial decisions, content review and ongoing maintenance.

Chiang Mai Travel Hub is part of the Holiday Point network of destination-focused travel websites, which are managed under the same editorial direction.

Our guides are prepared to help travellers make informed decisions, whether they are planning a holiday, visiting northern Thailand for an extended stay, attending a festival or discovering an attraction closer to home.

Research and Information Sources

We research destinations using a combination of personal travel experience, original photography, publicly available information and sources relevant to each attraction or event.

Where available, we prioritise:

  • Official attraction, temple, hotel and venue websites.
  • Event organisers and official festival announcements.
  • The Tourism Authority of Thailand and relevant government agencies.
  • National park authorities and other organisations responsible for visitor access.
  • Public transport providers, airports and transport authorities.
  • Other reliable sources, including business listings and official social media accounts, where appropriate.

Information from third-party sources may be used where primary sources are unavailable, with greater care taken when details cannot be independently verified.

We aim to distinguish confirmed information from details that remain uncertain or have not yet been announced.

Personal Experience and Photography

Chiang Mai Travel Hub was established following Michael’s experience living in Chiang Mai and exploring destinations throughout northern Thailand.

Personal visits and original photographs have contributed to the development of the website. As coverage has expanded, not every listed attraction, temple, business or event has been personally attended or visited.

Photographs may also be supplied by operators or obtained from other sources where their use is permitted.

We do not present independently researched destinations as personally visited unless that experience has taken place.

Content Preparation and Editorial Review

Research and editorial oversight are undertaken by Michael Jones.

Content is prepared using a combination of independent research, personal experience and digital writing tools, including AI-assisted drafting and editing where appropriate.

These tools help organise and prepare information but do not replace independent research, human review or editorial responsibility. Michael remains responsible for the accuracy, relevance and publication of the website’s content.

Event and Festival Information

Event dates, locations and other visitor details can change between editions.

When researching events, we prioritise announcements from organisers, official venues and relevant authorities.

Festival programmes and local celebrations may change, and some traditional or religious events follow calendars that differ from the Gregorian calendar.

Where dates have not been announced, we aim to identify the information as unconfirmed or to be announced rather than presenting speculative dates as established facts.

Events may be updated when organisers publish new schedules, venue information or cancellation notices.

Attraction, Temple and Destination Information

Attraction information may include locations, contact details, opening hours, entry prices, accessibility, facilities and visitor access.

Temples, national parks, waterfalls, mountain destinations and local markets may have seasonal operating arrangements or visitor requirements.

Weather, air quality, road conditions and seasonal restrictions can affect travel around northern Thailand, particularly in mountainous areas.

We periodically review information and investigate reported changes, using appropriate sources to resolve discrepancies where possible.

Our guides are not a substitute for current government travel advice, emergency warnings or official safety information.

Not all details can be verified at all times. Where information is unavailable or uncertain, we may omit it rather than publish an unsupported claim.

Updates and Corrections

Published information is reviewed and updated when new research, official announcements or reader feedback identifies a meaningful change.

Changes to event dates, venue locations, attraction operations, national park access and other information affecting visitors are given particular attention.

We welcome corrections from readers, businesses, event organisers and attraction operators.

Please use our Contact Us page and include the relevant page URL, the information requiring correction and an appropriate supporting source where available.

Advertising, Affiliate Links and Independence

Chiang Mai Travel Hub is supported by advertising and may earn commissions through selected affiliate links, including accommodation and travel booking services.

Where applicable, a commission may be earned when a visitor makes a booking or purchase through a link.

Advertising and commercial relationships do not give advertisers or booking partners editorial control over the factual information presented in our guides.

Accuracy and Limitations

We aim to provide useful and accurate information based on the research and sources available when content is reviewed.

However, prices, opening hours, transport services, event schedules, national park access, seasonal restrictions and other visitor details may change without notice.

Readers should verify important arrangements with the relevant operator, organiser or authority before travelling.
