Travelling from Chiang Mai to Singapore surprisingly easy as the two are connected by land. Therefore you can choose to take a flight, or can travel by train.

Taking a train to Singapore covers around 2,200 kms and can be broken up into convenient sections allowing you to explore Thailand and Malaysia along your journey.

Direct Flights Chiang Mai To Singapore, Cost, Train Times & Duration

There is no one train that will get you from Chiang Mai to Singapore, so you will need to make some transfers at each stop. The trip can be broken down into the following sections: Chiang Mai to Bangkok (between 12-15hrs), Bangkok to Padang Besar or Paneng, Malaysia (19-20 hours), Padang Besar/Paneng to Kuala Lumpur (5.5-6hrs) and finally Kuala Lumpur to Singapore.

The entire cost should be no more than $100-$120AUD and you can purchase tickets as you travel simply getting the next train at each stop. The trains improve as you make your way from Thailand into Malaysia with comfortable reclining seats and food and drinks available for purchase on the trains.

A much quicker way to travel is simply by taking a flight. There are a number of direct flights operated by Tiger Air and Silk Air which take around 3hrs, with Thai Airways and Air Asia providing a service that stops at Bangkok along the way. Flights can cost anywhere between $250-$400AUD for a return fare.
