Nan

Nan is a secluded province nestled in north eastern part of Thailand and borders on Laos to the east.

Nan is also the name of the town located here which is a small city which is the centre of the commercial, administrative and educational services in the north-east of Thailand.

For those travelling to Nan for weekend break, there are a number of natural and historic attractions to enjoy. Tour the ruins of the old city and marvel at the architectural style of previous kingdoms. The temples are also worth viewing as there are many temples which are steeped in history including Wat Phumin, which is Nan’s most prominent temple that was constructed in 1596.

Visitors can also check out Nan National Museum which is housed inside an old Royal Palace. The museum houses various exhibits including ethnological exhibits, silver work, textiles, archaeology, royal regalia, weapons, ceramics and religious art.

If you are interested in markets, head to the Kad Nan which is a night market that sells local arts and traditional Thai food. Make sure to tour the Old Wall in Nan City which was constructed in 1885.
