There aren’t lots of Westerners, or visitors for that matter, who come here. Because of that, this attraction has maintained its pristine natural beauty. It’s quiet and serene throughout the year, plus you get to see some of the best views in all of the country.
This is also the home of the Yao and Hmong minority groups, as well as the Chinese Haw hill tribes, who live their lives here peacefully and undisturbed by major development or tourism.
The highest point here is around 1,638 meters above sea level. Come and breathe the fresh air as you appreciate the panoramic views of both Laos and Thailand and the legendary Mekong River. Aside from views of neighbouring countries, Doi Pha Tang has some fantastic natural scenery. During the cool season, you can also encounter the pretty Nang Phaya Sua Krong flower or the Wild Himalayan Cherry blossoms.
Throughout the area, several flat areas make ideal camping grounds. Camping is not only permitted here but encouraged if you’re looking for a unique adventure while in northern Thailand. The roadsides are also dotted with vendors selling Chinese food, as well as fresh fruit that grows well in this altitudes and climates – many of which you won’t find in other areas.
