Wat Phra Singh Chiang Rai one of the oldest temples in Chiang Rai, having been built by the Lanna people in 1385.
The temple is located right in the centre of town, just 1km north of the popular Night Bazaar and is easy to reach by foot.

You will find a traditional building called an ubosot, a viharn and a chapel which has Buddhas footprint. There are also monks living quarters here which are not open to the public.
There is a language school located on the grounds which teaches Pali, an ancient Buddhist language. You can get more information about the temple and its history at the information desk located at the entrance.
As with all temples in Thailand, visitors should dress conservatively. This means covering knees, shoulders and midriffs. So come and take a stroll through the grounds of Wat Phra Singh next time you are in Chiang Rai.
