TEDx Chiang Mai

TEDx Chiang Mai is an independently organised event that provides the locals with a platform for sharing ideas that are worth spreading, creativity, collaboration, and innovation.

Operated under license from the famous global non-profit platform, TED, the event features one major annual talk, as well as small activities and events that are held throughout the year.

Each year, a particular theme is assigned to the talk that highlights an important social or environmental issue. The first event was held in 2011, and today it features several speakers to an audience of over 1,000 attendees. TED’s local version is watched by over 80 million viewers and is entirely voluntary, non-commercial, and non-profit.

Visitors from other countries are welcome to attend; it’s not only fun and insightful but also a terrific platform to meet wonderful people who live with purpose and impact. The major event of TEDx Chiang Mai is held for one full day each year. The performers and speakers from all around the world cover a wide variety of exciting topics, usually focussed around art, community, environment, education, industry, technology, university, cities, social impact, and of course, Chiang Mai. Each talk lasts around 12 to 14 minutes, although the longest talk lasts around 18 minutes.

The talks are held at various conferences or convention centres each year, but it’s highly recommended if you’re in town. Stimulating intellectual discussions and interesting topics continue to attract people to the growing event, which is now one of the most important and highly-anticipated events in Chiang Mai.
